Back in 2016, our founder Julia Bookbinder was working as a Social Worker in Philadelphia Early Intervention and saw a massive need for basic childhood items with the families she was working with. She reached out to her local community to see if anyone had a spare high chair to donate to her client who needed a safe place to feed their medically fragile child and was overwhelmed by the generosity of the local community!
Over the next few years she would spend her time posting on social media for items ranging from clothing to books, toys and strollers. After work she would drive around to pick up donations and redistribute them via Early Intervention therapists working directly in the field.
Families with children who have developmental delays or medical diagnosis’ are able to get access to free supports including diapers, clothing, and other childhood items that help promote their healthy growth and development while repurposing giving new life to old toys!
The Foundation serves as a connector between communities, enabling neighbors to meet, support and engage with one another. By helping to provide access to basic necessities, mental health and family support we are working on creating a connection between neighborhoods to support the family and community as a whole.

At this time we are offering our services to families enrolled in Early Intervention Services. We have an exclusive partnership with Kutest Kids Early Intervention at this time, but aim to open our services as we grow to any family who meets our eligibility criteria. Emergency situations will be reviewed on a case by case basis. If you need support please reach out to us at Julia@KidsatPlayFoundation.org
Donations can be dropped off at Kids at Play during Open Play Hours or can be picked up by one of our volunteers. If you have donations that need to be picked up please reach out to us at Julia@KidsatPlayFoundation.org
While Kids at Play Foundation is still awaiting our 501c3 status, we are unable to provide tax receipts for donations at this time. Our goal is to keep gently used items out of landfills and support local families with essential childhood items. The list below contains our most requested items:
